Our modular data center units are cooled by fan technology, which means our infrastructure can function without water-coolant. The air-cooled method has proven effective in our modular design and acts as a blueprint for other data centers looking to minimize their water consumption. What can we say, we’re big fans of water!
The TIER 0 data center maintains an average Power Usage Efficiency (PUE) of 1.04, which is 52% more efficient than traditional higher tiered data centers*. The practical modular structure of TIER 0 provides a secure environment for distributed computing, reducing operational costs, increasing power output, and minimizing energy waste. Learn more about the energy efficiency factors on our Energy Management page.
While traditional data center workloads focus on uptime, TIER 0 focuses on optimizing computing power when clean energy is abundant. This effort has carved out a niche of interruptible workloads that we can service more efficiently given the intermittency of renewable energy. Our efficiency mindset extends beyond our energy consumption and into our construction approach. We make minimal alterations to the natural environment where our data centers are located. We design our sites to complement the ecosystem, while making them accessible for our modular design.
The communities in which we build and operate our data centers are where we want to hire technical resources. By recruiting and training locally, we generate career opportunities that provide hands-on experience in emerging mega industries such as digital infrastructure, renewable energy, and cryptocurrency.
