Scalability is a chief concern for many large-scale miners in search of the most cost-effective way to upgrade and expand operations while minimizing cost and downtime. For most miners, a hardware upgrade has always gone hand-in-hand with the need to power down operations while changes are implemented, resulting in a loss of time and revenue.

Chinese crypto giant Bitmain is aiming to address these challenges with the rollout of AntRack – a new, modular piece of mining hardware designed to maximize uptime and rate of return.

Here is everything you need to know about Bitmain’s new AntRack offering, as well as the latest buzz surrounding its Antminer S19 and what these developments could mean for your mining efforts.

AntRack: The modular, hot-swappable miner

Bitmain announced AntRack in November of 2020 as a new piece of rack-style mining equipment designed to address many of the scalability issues experienced by many larger-scale mining operations.

The AntRack features a hot-swappable modularized configuration that includes five key modules:

  • 1 rack
  • 1 switchboard
  • 4 servers
  • 1 main control panel
  • 1 water cooling system

The hardware also includes the other crucial miner components – the hash board, control panel, power supply unit (PSU), and fans. Every module of the AntRack is hot-swappable, allowing users to optimize operations and upgrade certain parts without needing to entirely replace the miner.

This modular capability reduces the risk of machine depreciation and maximizes effective mining time, making it a perfect option for users looking to manage the costs of operation expansion while also increasing rate of return. The hash board can easily be replaced on the fly with the latest generation of chipsets without needing to power down the entire operation.

The AntRack is easy to deploy at any time, with easy scalability for future upgrades and additions. The hardware starts working as soon as the 3-phase AC power cable and network cable are plugged in and the inlet and outlet for the water-cooling system are set. Each server of the AntRack features PSUs that provide 3+1 redundant operations to ensure mining is never interrupted.

Bitmain has also announced ANTBOX, its all-in-one data center solution that contains 10 AntRack miners per shipment.

AntRack serves as a highly customizable and optimizable solution for large-scale miners looking to expand operations without sacrificing uptime or returns. But it is not the only noteworthy news out of Bitmain’s camp of late.

Bitmain inks pair of big deals for Antminer S19

Bitmain has also recently announced a pair of large deals centered around its Antminer S19 miners.

Publicly traded bitcoin mining company Riot Blockchain recently announced the purchase of 3,000 S19 Pro Antminers and 12,000 S19j Pro Antminers – a move it is making in order to up its operation’s hashrate. Riot Blockchain has now purchased more than 31,000 Antminers in 2020 and is expected to deploy its new S19 Antminers between May and October of 2021.

Marathon Patent Group – another publicly held crypto mining company – also announced a long-term purchase of 10,500 S19 Pro Antminers in a deal valued at over $23 million.

The S19j Pro achieves a hashrate of 100 TH/s with a power consumption of 3000W and is one of the most high-powered and profitable ASIC miners on the market today.

This wave of news comes as bitcoin’s price continues to surge to all-time highs, recently surpassing $40,000 for the first time in history.
